Loser Blogger

I just looked at my blog and noticed the date of my last posting. Wow, I really have been a loser blogger lately!!! It's not my fault, though. And anyone who has every been on Facebook can attest to that. It is just too darn addicting!! Especially the Hatchlings application. It's an easter egg hunt that never ends!! Too much fun.

I'll try in the future not to be such a loser blogger. :)

Makes Me Nervous

Sorry about the poor quality, the humidy was so bad that day. Every few minutes the camera lens would steam up.



The upside, now we all know that Paisley was definately ready to quit PT when her therapist went on maternity leave. (I have some more videos that prove this. She started walking full time on vacation in May, I just can't find them). The downside is that she is no longer allowed outside by herself. (by that I mean, with her brother and sister and me checking every couple of minutes, like I used to be able to do when I made dinner. Oh well.)



If you listen real careful, you can hear her say "wee" as she climbs.

Finished!!

Here is the finished product. For the most part I am pretty happy with the end result. The special, customized touch is that I am betting this is the only Noah's Ark picture with border collies in it. My friend has a 15 year old border collie that she and her family have to put down for health reasons. (he's got old creaky joints and is now in congestive heart failure). I hope this is a special way to remember him.

Crossing my fingers

My best friend is PCSing in a couple of weeks, and as a going away present from our women's group I am painting a Noah's Ark picture (she collects Noah's Arks) and will have everyone sign the back of the painting. Here is a sketch of what I have done. I am hoping that it will look good painted on canvas as well.

Jessica's New "Toy"

Pretty much ever since we moved into our house I have been bugging Brian to put a clothesline in for me. I love the way clothes, especially bedding, smell when they are dried on the line. Plus, living in Arkansas means I can use my clothesline April through October. Talk about a great savings on our electricity bill!! In August of 2007 I put in a circle clothesline. However, I really couldn't put the bedding on it or really even a full load of laundry. Mom was telling me that Dennis knows how to weld and if I asked real nice like and paid for the materials, then he might make me a t-bar clothesline. This last trip to Nebraska was the perfect opportunity since Brian was along to help haul stuff and we have a truck now to haul stuff with. All I asked Dennis was if we paid for the material and if Brian helped, would he mind making the clothesline. He said sure. To me surprise, he had two already made and in his barn that had been previously dug out his yard. Yea!!! Over the weekend Brian "lovingly" put the in the ground for me. I just love having a big clothesline!!

When we left Nebraska, we just put the posts in and let them lean against the tailgate. That make for a big pain for packing the truck bed and a big pain when we had to lower the tailgate to let Kodiak in and out. When we got to Texas Brian and his dad made this great custom clothesline post holder. I highly reccomend it for anyone traveling with a clothesline post. The a-frame section was snug up against the tailgate, so once it was closed those bad boys weren't going anywhere.

Pea-Mania

I guess it's been about a month now, but now everyone can see just how much trouble two little peas and a baby can be. Paisley had to be taken to the ER here in Jacksonville because she stuck two dried peas up her nose. One on each side of course. She's like her mommy, things need to be symetrical whenever possible. Stupid mommy, though, has no idea when said peas were put up her nose. She tore the seed bag open one day, but it wasn't until about 2 days later that we realized her nose was bothering her. Anywho...the ER in Jacksonville couldn't get the peas out. No surprise since the ER in Jacksonville sucks. I took a chance though hoping it would be a quick ER visit. So they transfered us to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. We got lucky, it was a short wait. About 20 minutes in the waiting room and then about 30 minutes in the exam room waiting for the ENT. My average ER visit to Children's is about 3-4 hours total. That day was about 2 1/2 hours. Not bad. Our longest ER visit was 12 hours just in the waiting room. Of course that was becuase Lorelei got sick 4th of July weekend and everytime we got to the front of the line we got bumped for yet another ambulance with yet another firecracker injury. Anyway, back to the original story. The ENT got one pea out with his little metal scoopy thingy (yes that is the technical term) but it was a no go for the other pea. Now picture this at the same time. Poor Paisley is wrapped in a sheet like a burrito so she can't move. The worry is that the pea might accidently get pushed to far back and go into her airway. The ENT has this "AHA moment" Yeah, I said it. "AHA moment" what are you gonna do about it, Oprah. NOTHIN'!! He remembers something he read about. He took a sterile catheter (the ones used for little baby boys) and threaded it behind the pea. Then he filled little balloon with saline and pulled the pea out that way. He commented that he wished he remembered that an hour ago when he first started trying.






The penny is there for size reference. The peas on the outside are the dried peas. That is the size the peas were when they went into Paisley's nose. The inside peas are the actual re-hydrated peas that came out of the poor girl's nose.
